File:Acromegaly growth hormone levels.JPEG

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Original file(810 × 319 pixels, file size: 40 KB, MIME type: image/jpeg)

Summary

This graph image could be re-created using vector graphics as an SVG file. This has several advantages; see Commons:Media for cleanup for more information. If an SVG form of this image is available, please upload it and afterwards replace this template with {{vector version available|new image name}}.

It is recommended to name the SVG file “Acromegaly growth hormone levels.svg”—then the template Vector version available (or Vva) does not need the new image name parameter.
Description Frequent blood sampling with serum GH measurement shows that in normal subjects (left panel) GH can fluctuate between undetectable levels (most of the time) and peaks of up to 30 μg/l (90 mIU/l), owing to the episodic nature of GH secretion, while in patients with acromegaly (an example is given on right panel), GH hypersecretion is continuous and GH never returns to undetectable levels.
