Achille est représenté comme un jeune homme imberbe aux cheveux ondulés et mi-longs. Il est debout, tourné vers la droite. Il est nu, à l'exception d'un tissu drapé qui passe sur son épaule gauche et dissimule en partie son bras gauche, mais passe dans son dos en laissant voir son torse et son sexe, avant de revenir par-dessus sa cuisse droite. Achille porte une épée rangée dans un fourreau accroché en bandoulière autour de son épaule gauche. Achille regarde vers la droite et lève la main gauche avec laquelle il tient un grand bouclier rond. Le bas des jambes d'Achille et son bras droit sont hors du cadre de la photo. Derrière Achille, on entrevoit en haut des chapiteaux de colonnes corinthiennes à motifs floraux, et, en bas, des draperies.
