Ce manuscrit au style composite a été copié sur un modèle jalayride par un peintre d’origine persane, Qanbar ‘Alî Naqqâsh Shirâzî, sans doute sous les Mamelouks. Les trente-six sections qu’il comporte correspondent aux décans des signes du zodiaque.
Dans le cadre central, on voit le signe du lion associé au soleil, planète dominante et montré dans le second décan sous l'influence de Jupiter. Dans les vignettes figurent les planètes des cinq sections du signe : Saturne, un genou à terre, en homme noir et barbu, torse nu et hache à la main ; Mercure symbolisé par un scribe, un codex ouvert à la main ; Jupiter, en homme de loi en turban, assis en tailleur ; Vénus, en femme musicienne jouant du luth ; Mars peint en guerrier casqué, sabre levé et tenant une tête décapitée.
