Description
English: North transept of the Basilica of St. Sernin, Toulouse - Medieval paintings dating from 1180. These murals were covered in the 17th century and then in the 19th century under layers of whitewash. It was in 1972 that the most spectacular painting, known as the “cycle of the Resurrection” was discovered. The decor that develops over the entire height of the wall in five registers.
Français : Transept nord de la Basilique Saint-Sernin de Toulouse – Peintures médiévales datant de 1180. Ces peintures murales furent recouvertes au XVIIème siècle puis au XIXème siècle sous des couches de badigeon blanc. C'est en 1972 que fut découverte la peinture la plus spectaculaire, dite du « cycle de la Résurrection ». Le décor qui se développe sur toute la hauteur du mur en cinq registres.
