An advertising store card token issued during the Civil War. Token was designed by Mossin and Marr, and contracted for Edward Aschermann & Company, a cigar maker in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The token was issued in 1863 or 1864. This token is indexed by George and Melvin Fuld in "US Civil War Store Cards" (Quarterman Publications, 2nd Edition, 1975) as WI510A-1a, and is listed as rarity 5 (76-200 pieces known). This specimen is encapsulated by NGC and graded as uncirculated MS65RB (red-brown).
