Deutsch: Der Altar wurde 1547 oder 1548, nach dem Tod Martin Luthers 1546, errichtet, nach der Niederlage der protestantischen Fürsten am 24. April 1547 in der Schlacht bei Mühlberg gegen Karl V. und der Gefangennahme von Kurfürst Johann Friedrich dem Großmütigen, 2014 restauriert. Der Altar ist ist auch als Antwort Cranach zugunsten von Bildern auf den 25 Jahre vorher von Luthers einstigen Weggefährten Andreas Bodenstein, genannt Karlstadt, in Wittenberg entfachten Bildersturm anzusehen
