Summary

Description

Got the chance to reshoot this photo today when I passed through the station. The bright backlight still makes this a bit difficult. Original photo at www.flickr.com/photos/dvdmerwe/109811144/.

It is a 0-4-2 Hawthorn Leslie of Leith 1852. The station has two main parts, local travel platforms and the other side being for national departures. Blackie hauled the first train between Cape Town and Eersterivier on 13th February, 1862. This loco is situated on the national side so you would not see it if you travelled on local trips.

The miniature coin operated train appears to have been removed.
