Etah district is one of the districts of Uttar PradeshIndia since 1854.Etah town is the district headquarters.Etah district is a part of Aligarh Division. There are Three Tehsil,8 Block,18 Police station and 892 Villages.The driving distance from New Delhi to Etah is 206km and Lucknow to Etah 267Km.[2]

History

It is the central point on the Kanpur-Delhi highway. Historically, it is also known to be the center of the 1857 rebellion. In ancient times, Eta was called "Aantha" which means to 'respond aggressively' because of the people of the Yadav community, who are very aggressive. This was when the king of Agargarh was hunting in the forest with his 2 dogs. The dogs saw a fox and started barking and chasing him. The fox was trying to protect herself from the king's dogs but when she reached Etah, the fox reacted very aggressively to the king's dogs. The king was surprised by the behavior change in the fox. Therefore, he thought that there must be something in this place in which the participating fox change attitude was created. Therefore, the place was named, which was later mistaken as Eta. There is another story in the book of Vidya Bharti, who calls Eta's old name 'Inta' due to a lost person here. In search of water, he dug into the ground and his shoe struck a brick that leads to the name Anta, and the word later changed to Etah. Etah is also very famous for its Yagyashala which is located in Gurukul Vidyalaya. Yagyashala is considered as the second largest yagyashala in the world. There is a historical fort which was built by the king of Avagarh. Awagadh is a place which is 24 km from Etah. Etah also has a historical temple called Kailash Mandir dedicated to Lord Shiva. Amir Khusro was born in Patiali, Etah and is considered one of the best poets in Urdu. It belongs to Uttar Pradesh, Etah district is part of the Aligarh division. Majority population is Yadav and Lodi Rajput NH 91 passes through this district. The nearest district of Etah is surrounded by Kasganj, Mainpuri, Etawah, Farrukhabad, Hathras, Aligarh and Agra. Earlier, Kasganj was a part of Etah. Kasganj was established on 15 April 2008 by the division of Kasganj, Patiali and Sehwar Tehsils of Etah district. There are 8 blocks of Jayathra, Marehar, Nidhauli Kalan, Sakit, Sheetalpur, Aghagarh, Aliganj, Jalesar, Raja's Rampur.2009 ==Demographics== The total population of Etah district is 1,761,152 according to the 2011 census. [1] It is almost identical to the total population of a country called Gambia [3] or the US state of Nebraska. [4] It is rated as the 272nd district in India. . [1] The district has a population density of 717 inhabitants per square kilometer (1,860 / sq mi). [1] The population growth rate was 12.77 percent during 2001–2011. [1] The sex ratio here is 863 females per 1000 males [ 1] and here The literacy rate is 82.27%.

How to reach

Etah is well connected by road and railway. It is located on National Highway 91. You can reach it easily here. Uttar Pradesh Roadways bus is directly available from here to Delhi, Agra, Aligarh, Kasganj, Farrukhabad Mainpuri, Etawah, Kanpur, Lucknow.

Economy

There are no large industries here, but there are some factories here. Hindustan Unilever Ltd. Brass casting work is going on at Jalesar on a large scale. Etah is an agricultural region. Farming is one of the main employment of the people of Ita. The land of Etah is very fertile.

Development

Work is under construction on the ultra mega power plant here, work on the Etah-Malawan new rail route is going on, Etah-Kasganj new track approved by the Railways in budget 2017-2018, work on Etah Medical College is underway, work on Etah Sewerage Work is underway on Etah-Aligarh bypass, most of all main roads are under construction, some of Etah roads have recently been added to the national highway. Jalesar-Bareilly National Highway,Etah-Farrukhabad Highway.

According to the 2011 census Etah district has a population of 1,774,480,[1] roughly equal to the nation of The Gambia[3] or the US state of Nebraska.[4] This gives it a ranking of 272nd in India (out of a total of 640).[1] The district has a population density of 717 inhabitants per square kilometre (1,860/sq mi) .[1] Its population growth rate over the decade 2001-2011 was 12.77%.[1] Etah has a sex ratio of 863 females for every 1000 males,[1] and a literacy rate of 73.27%.[1]

At the time of the 2011 Census of India, 99.25% of the population in the district spoke Hindi and 0.71% Urdu as their first language.[5]
