Elisenda Paluzie was born in Barcelona on 13 October 1969. She is the daughter of Lluís Paluzie Mir, who comes from a family of Catalan intellectuals.[2] She received a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Barcelona (1992), a master's degree in international economics and economic development from Yale University (1996) and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Barcelona (1999). A promoter of the Sobirania i Progrés independence platform since 2006, she later joined the Republican Left of Catalonia party (2008-2012), where she promoted the critical current, Independentist Left. On 24 March 2018 she was elected president of the Catalan National Assembly succeeding Jordi Sànchez.[6]

In October 2014, she published the book, Podemos! Las claves de la viabilidad económica de la Cataluña independiente ("Podemos!
