From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Edward Winn (February 12, 1937 – June 25, 1995) was a third-party candidate for President of the United States in the 1984 and 1988 presidential elections, representing the Socialist Equality Party (US). In 1984 his running mate varied from state to state, being either Helen Halyard (e.g. in Pennsylvania[1]) or Edward Bergonzi (e.g. in Ohio[2]). In 1988 his running mate again varied, being either Helen Halyard or Barry Porster (e.g. in Iowa[3]).

Winn had been a sixteen-year member of the party's Central Committee, and an executive board member of the Transport Workers Union Local 100 and played a leading role in the 1980 New York City transit strike.
