The conference encompasses 71 colleges within Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont. Teams from some Canadian universities in Quebec and Ontario also compete in the ECCC. The primary goal is to facilitate bicycle racing, with mountain bike racing and cyclo-cross races in the fall and road bicycle races in the spring. The conference is governed by the National Collegiate Cycling Association (NCCA), a division of USA Cycling.

>> (Music) >> [IAN GIELAR]: It's sort of like in between mountain biking and road biking. So, it's like road bikes off-road and it's on a course about a mile in length and the races go between 30 and 60 minutes. >> [CHRIS HARTMANN]: Practices we do a mix of just endurance training and then we'll do some speed training where we'll do a couple of fast laps then take a break for a short amount of time. Then, we'll keep doing fast laps to get our speed up and more of an endurance run. The courses we do, we have a grass loop that we do and it handles a lot of different techniques for turning as well as the terrain. Grass rides differently than mud or dirt. The second half of practice, we generally go into the woods. There's a loop that we set up out there and do more technique with turning and more about just finding your own confidence in your bike. >> [IAN GIELAR]: There's seven race weekends that we're going to be in this season and it's through the ECCC, so it's collegiate racing. We have, there's three categories: A, B and C. This year we have one male rider that's in A and one female that's in A. And right now we're in second place overall in the conference.
