In November 2017, he succeeded Irene Rosenfeld as CEO of Mondelez International.[3][4] He also became chairman in April 2018.[1] He was hired by Mondelez with a reputation for driving growth in traditional packaged food brands. In the third quarter of 2019, growth reached 4.2%, and operating profit for 2019 was increased by 20%.[6]

Van de Put has Belgian and US citizenship.[1]
