Different Drummer is the third and final album by Isley-Jasper-Isley, released in 1987. Following its release, the Isleys would reunite with The Isley Brothers, while Jasper would go solo.[4] "8th Wonder of the World" and "Givin' You Back the Love" entered the R&B Top 20.[5]

Critical reception

AllMusic wrote that "the singing was perfunctory, the production and arrangements routine, and [the band] got little mileage from any of the material."[1]

They got off to a good start with "Colder Are My Nights" reaching number 12 on the R&B charts. The brothers followed with "May I?," a pleading love song that was mildly successful in the spring of 1986. However, any joy from the album was negated when Kelly Isley died of a heart attack on March 31, 1986 at age 48. Isley Jasper Isley returned with their third album, Different Drummer, in 1987. From the LP two singles made the R&B top 20: the techno-funk jam "8th Wonder of the World" in the spring of 1987 and the sweet, mid-tempo "Givin' You Back the Love" later that summer.
