Demographics of Mitrovica

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mitrovica (Albanian: Mitrovicë or Mitrovica; Serbian: Косовска Митровица / Kosovska Mitrovica; Turkish: Mitroviça), is a city and municipality in northern Kosovo.[a] The Municipality of Mitrovica is going through territorial administrative restructuring. Since 2013 two administrative units at the municipal level of authority were created separating the city of Mitrovica in two municipalities; northern and southern Mitrovica. The city is multi-ethnic though Albanians form the absolute majority. The Serbs are heavily concentrated in the north of the city across the River Ibar, an area known as North Mitrovica.[1]

On 12th of March 1999 Czech Republic joined NATO. After less than two weeks alliance planes started bombing of Yugoslavia without a mandate from the UN council. It was on 24th of March 1999. Czech Television presents: STOLEN KOSOVO Directed by: Vaclav Dvorak On that day, 26th of March, my next-door neighbors came in front of my house, to my misfortune, they've met my son Slobodan, whom we called Boban and said - Come on Boban, we want to go to Montenegro. And up in Rugovo, they were intercepted by the army of KLA which arrested them. They asked where they were going. "For Montenegro". Why do you go there? "To work". Well you have to work for us. Because my Boban spoke excellent Albanian, they didn't know he was Serbian, so they worked on, the first day for them, but on the second day some neighbor came and told that they have a Serb in their midst, and they took my son on that day somewhere, and since then I do not know anything about him. Today's Kosovo and Metohia, the World is calling it Kosovo for short. South Sebian province occupied by NATO states since 1999, and after that under UN administration. Record-high unemployment, high crime rate and remaining Serbian population is surviving in ghettos while Kosovo Albanians are dreaming about independent state. March 1999 For 78 days the bombarding took place. More than 1000 Tomahawk missiles were launched. The damages were around 100 billion dollars. The Serbs were being punished because of Milosevic regime which supported Serbs in Croatia and Bosnia. And in the end fought Albanian separatists on Kosovo. During the course of the campaign a new Orwell term was invented for the democratic world "Humanitarian Bombing" For example, here is the death of the night shift technicians of Serbian television. In 1913 the Ottoman Empire left south of Serbia leaving behind them an ethnical mixture. After every Serbian revolt, and there were many during 500 years of Turkish occupation killing and exodus of Serbs to the north followed. The Turks were giving the Christian assets to Muslim immigrants. Mostly Albanians. The population then still consisted of more than 50% of Serbian people. With the massacre of the Serbs begun World War I. Austro-Hungarian Empire had imperial ambitions towards the Balkans and independent Serbia was standing in the way. 2.5 million of erased Serbian lives. That was the price of war at the beginning of the 20th century. Serbian army retreated but never surrendered. They belonged to victors and our allies. Albanian separatists were enemies of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. As long as it existed, they could not fulfill the vision of ethnically clean Albania. They wanted to annex Kosovo and Metohia, part of Macedonia, part of Montenegro, another part of Serbia and north of Greece. A strange plan, if we take into account that ethnic Albanians constituted less that 50% of the population at those places. Spring of 1941. Yugoslavia was attacked by Hitler. In Croatia and Bosnia begins the extermination of Serbs which can be compared to holocaust. Who wanted to save himself had to run to partisans. The II World War will cost Serbs 2 million lives. The south of Serbia is occupied by Italians. Under their patronage Albanian nationalists proclaim Great Albania. And ethnic cleansing begins on Kosovo. Serbs are being murdered, and their possessions taken away. To an Albanian chauvinist, to kill a Serb is a heroic act. 70.000 of Serbian families had to hastily leave Kosovo. The resistance against the fascists throughout Yugoslavia beside national resistance forces was lead by communists as well. The victory of Tito's partisans at the end of the War, was far from victory for Kosovo Serbs. Marshall Tito, by a decree, forbids the return of several tens of thousands people to Kosovo. Their homes and land are slowly given to Albanian poor people. During the age of partisans my grandfather was a normal citizen, we had 123 acres of land. The Stolic family had, that is. And when the ransom in grain came, they wanted two wagons. So he gave it. Then they asked for two more wagons, but he could not give any more, because he didn't have it. So they drove us out of the house. Our house, which was the biggest in the neighborhood We had 500 sheep, 100 cows, and pigs and such, the complete farmstead, was all taken by the partisans (communists). We were driven to the next village, Korisha, where we lived for the couple of years. Grandfather was in Nish, convicted for 5 years and after 2.5 he was released. Why so? They arrested him, beaten him up at the neighbor village, pulled him by his mustaches, hit him... Why? Because we had a lot of land and a large estate, they called him 'kulak' (village rich) and such. The Albanian families are running away from poverty, and crossing borders into Yugoslavia. They are receiving estates of Serbian colonists which Tito forbid to return. All of that was under pretenses of brotherhood and unity of nations. I grew up in Kosovo and Metohia in the village of Donya Dubnitsa near Poduyevo. It is a small settlement where both Serbs and Albanians lived. Of course, once there were only Serbs. Our first neighbor in that village, came directly from Albania and government of The Prishtina district has bought him estates. As some sort of aid, because they immigrated from the neighboring Albania. They seemed very poor, so my family was always there for them, helped them. With all the means. Food, wardrobe, other life necessities, because they were lacking that then. The whole Yugoslavia changes after the war. The agricultural country becomes a manufacturing country. Tito's communists are supervising the equality between the nation and minorities. The expression of nationalism is harshly punished. Expression of Great Serbian nationalism, is considered as criticism against anti-serb politics of the current regime. The Kosovo Albanians are enjoying unprecedented rights. Their agricultural and cultural life is richer than in their motherland. They have their own schools including university, radio station and television. Albanian families have a far greater number of children. The demographic structure undergoes a major change. The end of the '70s represents for Yugoslavia the years of economic crisis. The crisis falls mostly upon Albanian minority. The low level of education and knowledge of languages is preventing them to find a job. And there is no work in Kosovo. Albanian families, which have a lot of children have no place to live at, and prices of land in Kosovo is soaring to unreal heights. But the relationships went sour in the '80s when the Albanian neighbor who came from Albania who lived next to us, went out to the street with his wife and started to harass my older sisters, telling them they should leave for Serbia because that part of Kosovo and Metohia in fact whole Kosovo and Metohia is Albania. So, that was in the '80s. There was 200 Serbian houses here, now there are only 5. They all left. Because of the terror. Because of the pressure. I live on this estate which is worth 2 billion. Half an hour ago an Albanian came, and blackmailed me to buy out the land, horses and cows for 400 million! How shall I live, how can I sell it? On such a pretty estate I am being threatened. By Albanians. I do not know how long we'll last. To gain the estates, the Albanian criminals murdered son and husband of Mrs. Milicic. The documentary about her story could not be aired in former Yugoslavia. In order not to endanger brotherhood coexistence between nationalities. The Serbian cultural monuments were attacked. The witnesses of Serbian presence in Kosovo for 1000 years. Even the cemeteries were not spared. During the occupation we were robbed three to four times. We managed to save only lives of our family. After that we came back. Built houses, made lives for ourselves. Then, four years ago, we had to leave because our houses were torn down. The doors and windows. Burned things. They just took everything, took it away. They burned things, removed building materials from shed, and house, tore down walls. Took the doors, and burned the upper house. When I came all of the roof tiles were taken away. When I saw that I went to the police to report it. The police notified the ministry of internal affairs, who came and analyzed the situation. And no measures were taken since then. This month. On 11th, they set my house on fire. I went to the police, reported again. They informed the ministry, they came again and reviewed the situation. And again no measures were taken to this day. I see that there is no help from the government at all. And from today, let the house burn. Let them take it all away, I am not reporting to anyone anymore. The Tito’s constitution from 1974 gives the whole administration on Kosovo to Albanians. The Serbs and other ethnicities start to revolt. Their leaders are imprisoned. Protest walks in front of government buildings were useless. We, in Kosovo are getting no help, neither from municipality nor from the province. Different groups were coming, they just eat like pigs and drink... To tell you the truth, we cannot endure this kind of terror anymore. Serbs are spontaneously making a defense, but the great numbers are leaving towards calm north. If Yugoslavia wanted to introduce law and order in the south of the country, it encountered an organized resistance like the right for having law is something which oppresses Kosovo Albanians. Red flags with a star, Albanian eagle and symbols of the Islam. The mixture of communistic agitation, religion and nationalism. Fight for the human rights could not be the subject. All the same, Kosovo police is mostly acting against the Serbs. Following these events anti-serb propaganda created an unusual moment. The new chief of Serbian communists, Milosevic, comes to Kosovo. Serbs rose up to another protest. One of the participants pushed through to the delegation and is giving the new secretary information about who ordered the police to start beating up. ’I am a live witness to it! I heard him say...’ ’Nobody can beat you.’ These words will be used in greater Serbia chauvinism speeches. Milosevic: ’Nobody has the right beat you. Nobody!’ The constitution of 1974 was cancelled and direct influence of Serbian government bodies is renewed. All of the rights of Albanian minority were kept. But the majority of Albanians out of protest are closing themselves into their community and create parallel structures. The demonstrations of Albanian youth are often. The movement of separatists is supported by the communist Albania and Albanian emigrants from the rest of the World. At the beginning of ’90s the demonstrations of Kosovo Albanians are characterized the same as democratic revolutions in communist European countries. The objective was human rights, or ethnically clean Republic of Kosovo? In this period a book named "Through Terrorism to Independence" was published. KLA took control over Kosovo scene. Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA, in Alb. UÇK). In 1998 almost 400 Kosovo Albanians which opposed the secession from Yugoslavia, were killed. In the same 1998, the USA government declared KLA as a terrorist organization, committed to organized crime. The soldiers of KLA were armed and trained in Albania. Albania is breaking the UN chart and international law. It becomes an aggressor. On many places in Kosovo battles are fought. Milosevic, then current president of Yugoslavia, is trying to attract Albanians economically with unreturnable credits and loans. The Albanians cannot pay for taxes and electricity. Among KLA there are almost 2000 Arabic mujahedeen. Armament is bought from money which is collected from Albanians by heroin mafia throughout the World. When terrorists start to lose against Yugoslavian army, they begin to ask for truce. When the peace is established, the situation is abused they will occupy the places from which they were expelled. And people who declared themselves friends of Serbs were dealt with. They shoved me into a car, and when we came down to Ovcarevo, a young man cocked the gun and wanted to shoot me. An older man said: 'No, no. We will take care of him in headquarters.' They have thrown me in some room. My ribs were broken. - How many persons have beaten you? - Two women. They asked me - Why are you friends with Milan Lalovic, Spirko Zlatkovic? You are going over to them for a coffee, they are visiting you, having coffee. I said 'Well I have to go to them, they are my next-door neighbors.' Police set free this Albanian family as well KLA held them in goat pen for more than a month. Not giving them anything to eat or drink. They held us here for a month, beating me and my husband with an axe over the head. They closed us here, looking for our money, we were collecting rain in pots. - Why? - Because we were good with Serbs, we should go there to Serbia. Some of the villages have been damaged here by Yugoslav army, because KLA was shooting at the army and attacking from those villages, and they had to act against them to prevent the deaths of civilians and soldiers. Because of that some of the houses in those villages have been destroyed because they were fired upon from them. Kosovo is in civil war. Yugoslavian government is battling the terrorists but they already had support from a lot of locals. During the fights, the police tried to separate women and children. KLA was using them as live shields. After the cleaning actions, the police escorted them home. Some of the men were recruited to KLA by force. Those were let home by Yugoslav police. Captured commanders of KLA were taken to jail and court. The Yugoslavian society fot it's whole existence didn't manage to build a lasting and solid principle of civil coexistence. 10.000 people were fleeing from the battle grounds. They didn't want to become targets or live shields. They are running away to the neighboring countries, including Serbia. But the Albanian propaganda is claiming that Serbs are conducting a genocide over Albanians. The Kosovo forests are starting to testify. The mass graves of Yugoslavian citizens of different ethnicities and nationalities. Victims of KLA. One of the murderers undigging the remains. After providing the evidence he will go to the court. After the war these criminals were handed over to the UN mission on Kosovo but they didn't serve the punishment. This limestone pit has been used as a crematorium for burning the bodies of murdered citizens. A lot of information unfortunately didn't get to the western media. For example, about an old limestone pit in Klecka. In it, so called fighters for the freedom and democracy of KLA, burned executed Yugoslavian civilians. Including women and children. In front of the procurator and journalists arrested brothers Mazreku from Malisevo testify: According to his statement this is the place where 10 civilians have perished. - There were civilians? - They were civilians. Were there women, children, old people? There were two children, three women, two young boys, and three grown men. - Can you tell me if they were Serbs or Albanians? - I think they were Serbs. - Did you rape anyone? - Yes. How many women did you rape before shooting them? He raped just one. - How old was she? - Fifteen. The commander told me to cut off her ears. - Did you do it? - Yes. He has ripped her ear off, but doesn't remember exactly where it happened. Did you later kill the woman you raped and cut the ear off? Yes. The murderous brothers Mazreku were convicted after the war but were handed to UN in Kosovo. They are still free. Like the others. For example, Hashim Thaci, called the Snake. The Interpol is looking for him as an organizer of bomb attacks. The same Hashim Thaci is a chairman of Kosovo government, on February 2008 he proclaimed the independent Republic of Kosovo. The talks between Yugoslavian delegation and Kosovo Albanians to whom the resolution warranted extraordinary big autonomy within the Serbian borders. KLA wants more. The delegation of USA demands the addition which means a factual occupation by NATO states. Which is unacceptable for Yugoslavia. The administration of USA is not hiding the sympathies for KLA. And then came Racak, there were bodies of shot civilians found. The high diplomat of USA pointed at Serbs as guilty ones. It was another reason for the bombardment. The NATO planes started to attack the military targets, then the infrastructure. But the civilians were dying as well. The attack on Yugoslavia, Serbs are taking as an attack against their nation, not on Milosevic regime. During the NATO aggression, cluster bombs were used on many places. They are forbidden by international agreement. They are, of course, inflicting damage against civilians. The regular international train line Skopje-Belgrade, is being shot by American pilot, twice. Knowing that inside are civilians. This is how humanitarian bombing looks like up close. After 78 days of air terror, the Yugoslavia was promised that Kosovo will remain a part of Serbia. The army delegations in Kumanovo are signing the resolution. It will be shown that this agreement will not be taken seriously by some of the NATO states. Based on the agreement, Yugoslav army is leaving Kosovo on June of 1999. With them leaves the most of Kosovo Serbs, Macedonians, Montenegrins, Roms, Ashkalians and Turks. The Jews from Prishtina, like litmus paper for genocide, are packing their Torah and are among first to leave Kosovo. They know what will happen. New masters of Kosovo are coming out of woods and Albania. One American politician has said: We don't choose our goals according to our friends but our friends according to our goals. Consequentially, what even barely informed people knew, draws near. The warriors for freedom and democracy are finishing the ethnic cleansing in Kosovo. And soldiers of NATO are watching helplessly. Kosovo is left by ones who were hesitating until now. Let us remember. NATO declared that when they come to Kosovo, they would protect a multiethnic society. Ethnic cleansing is done like this. Some people will be murdered so that the others would start to leave as well. The journalists would explain that this is a justified revenge for the wrongdoing. The assets will be stolen, and what can not be taken, will be destroyed. It is good to burn the houses, so the refugees will not be able to come back. New possessions always come in handy. It comes as pillage of winners. During the first days of the occupation 58.000 Serbian homesteads were destroyed. 116 churches and monasteries were burned and ruined. Much of them were built long before America was discovered. Soldiers of NATO didn't stop that destruction. Funeral of victims of massacre in Staro Gratsko. 14 Serb farmers there were bestially killed by the Albanian bandits. There were 15 orphaned children. 7 of which are 4 of mine, and 3 of hers. What do you have to film? There is nothing for you to film. Let God burn their houses down! They left me with four children! New UN protectors for Kosovo are coming, like for example French Kouchner. They are uncompromisingly strict to the rest of the Serbs. The terrorist organization KLA has been forbidden but they remained in good relationship with its leaders. And now a common picture of commanders of KLA and NATO. The bombardment should have lead to fast fall of Milosevic, but he fell only a year after. It was intended for him to be judged in Serbia. Instead of that he was deported to Hague where he would take part in the process which would additionally justify NATO attacks in Bosnia and Kosovo. When the prosecution ended and he started to call witnesses to the stand, he died in very suspicious circumstances. Authoritative regime ended in Serbia, and the country passed through several democratic elections. Why cannot Kosovo be returned to the new, democratic state? 200.000 Kosovo Serbs are living far away from their homes and estates. Often in conditions which do not fit a 21st century. Why did we have to leave? We were pressured by Albanians either to leave or all be killed. We left everything behind. We have nothing. Our estates and homes, all of it. And we had to find refuge, leaving everything. There are people who came here totally empty handed. Brought nothing with them, nothing. Well, here is where we live. This is where we are forced to live at. And considering that our house in Pec was 300 square meters of space. This is now the room where my children sleep. And look where we keep our wheat flour. Here is where we're keeping our bread. In 20th century. Shame of the international forces in Kosovo. Albanians drove Serbs and other ethnicities from Kosovo. They cannot return as Serbs. Those are all our people. Roms from Kosovo. Great numbers. There are children and elderly people as well. They left Kosovo because of Albanians. They have been chased away, their houses burned. They have made them leave their homes and all in order to come here to live, in the greatest poverty. Having no conditions for a normal life. I was down there and our family has been shot at. We were sleeping around half an hour to midnight they shot with an automatic gun, so we had to go. We would love to go back to our village. But we don't have much confidence in life there. Well, because of all what happened. That is why we have a fear of something more happening as well. And if everything calms down, as it should. And if there is some security put in place, then we would love to go back. Mass graves in Kosovo. Bodies of massacred civilians of different ethnicities were buried there. Investigations of the murders never ended, or never started at all. Weren't UN bodies which guarded the province interested in that? Would it ever be possible to investigate the crimes which happened here? Would it be possible to point out the guilty? I said - I'm going to Kosovo and that is it! I came to Brezovica, and was here every week. When I came there was this slab. I was going down next to the river, and for five days nobody knew I was living here. After five days I was discovered here by German KFOR, and they pressed me to leave this place. This piece of land, this house, these fruit trees and this piece of sky - it's mine! When I bought this land, I bought a piece of sky with it. And I told them that. To the Germans. And I'm not leaving. They will not move me from here alive! Only dead! I am amongst first citizens, 53 of us, who came to Osoyane. I came here first. When we came here, we found wasteland. Everything was torn down. I helped repair 13 roofs without asking to be paid. I am a building engineer. Without money, without being paid for it. Military bases are built faster than new houses in Kosovo. 16.000 soldiers are stationed there, to defend Albanians from Serbs. American military base Bondsteel is built, which can house 70.000 soldiers. It's the second biggest base of USA outside of their country. Maybe this will be the real reason for the whole anti-Yugoslav campaign. Kosovo is guarded by two police forces. One is conducted by the UN mission. The other has been made of former members of KLA. What is left of Serbs are living in closed ghettos, like for example Gracanica is. In it is the seat of head of Serbian Orthodox Church at Kosovo Vladika Artemiye. The greatest critic of Milosevic. Like it's always been throughout the history, when the people are suffering, the Church suffers also. So it's been like that now, as well. With the persecution of Serbs, killing and ethnic cleansing that took place, the main targeting of Albanian extremists was directed against Serbian Orthodox Church. Churches and monasteries because those sanctuaries, which exist in these parts for over 700 years are the best witnesses that the Serbs in fact, were living here. Created their culture and their history. So the idea was, beside the persecution of Serbs, the destruction and wipe-out of those material monuments of Serbian culture, so that every trace of existence of Serbs on Kosovo and Metohia would be erased. KFOR military escort to the local spring. That is today's life of Serbs in Kosovo. If you are not Albanian but wish to go shopping, you must rely on military escort. Otherwise you would be risking your life. This is a regular autobus line Osoyane, Lukavats, Mitrovitsa. Escort is conducted by women and men of Spanish KFOR units. These people are moving through Kosovo cities on their own risk. This is how multiethnic coexistence is realized. We have now submitted around 17000 lawsuits for the reimbursement of damages from 1999. For the rebuilding of houses. Do you know what the result is? UN has forbid Kosovo courts to conduct any trials and hearings. There were 7 trials scheduled, but after that the court was told to stop all the activities. I still own a flat, but an Albanian is living in it now. Did you sell, rent it to him? No, no, no, nothing. He gives me nothing. He is your friend? No, no. He took the apartment when we had to leave. He broke in, and now he is living there. - How are the things going? Good? - Good, good. Now the Serbs are not in the way, so you can work. Well they were in our way. He says not to video record here. Let it be. He doesn't dare speak because he is dirty. Because I will ask him about this house, it is a house my brother-in-law has bought. We built it and now he is living in that house, doesn't pay the utilities or anything else. This one. He took it. - Who is the owner of this house? - I am, it is my home. Don't make problems, or there will be a crisis here. There is no problem. Now we can see which man is like what. Nothing else. When I was here I didn't allow for any house to be set on fire. In all of this street I didn't let them. And when these people came... Stop talking neighbor, someone might kill you. No Albanian has invaded no Albanian's house. Because if he would do that, police would come in 2 minutes and throw him out of there. How is it possible that 29000 of them still lives and they say - there is a social need. What social need? Every one of their houses has been rebuilt. Every flat reconstructed, they came back. But even Albanian extremists are not satisfied. There is still something standing in the way of their goals. Every year they wish to take over the last bigger Serbian enclave, Kosovska Mitrovitsa on the north of the province. If there wasn't for French paratroopers, it would lie under ashes as well. Terrorist KLA is forbidden, but it's structure is still living in Kosovo. In the beginning of Kosovo occupation Albanian separatists are trying to take over other parts of south Serbia. Their tries are stopped by Serbian army. Because of that, they are turning their attention to Macedonia. They will atack it from Kosovo in 2001. Kosovo becomes an epicenter of further Balkan destabilization. The slow return of refugees is a thorn in the eye of the separatists. In March of 2004 they are organizing a large pogrom. KFOR units are not able protect the Serbs. Albanian extremists are still using women and children like live shields. Again burning and killing. There was a huge mass of people, don't really know how many. But they came with a flag. Yelling KLA, KLA, they began to beat us up, my husband was first to get hit with a bat he fell down, Then others began beating, dragging me. I had a bag with documents and some money, 500 euros. I was holding those things in my hands. They dragged me, I fought back but what is my strength... Then one boy in his twenties, which I know well jumped on my back. I smelled smoke. It smelled like the house was burning. That they will burn us alive. Houses and ancient churches were burnt down. 3800 people are left without a roof over their heads. They have burned this with Molotov cocktail. And all of my family was there. - How many people were there? - Over 100 souls. They were here as well. Blocked every window, put the armed guards around so that no-one could leave. I was inside with my son, daughter-in-law, my wife, and four grandsons. And I have never oppressed anyone or make trouble for anyone, attacked or such... It was all from Albania there. The terrorists. From this church in Podujevo, a Czech unit has been withdrawn by an order from KFOR. International KFOR under the German leadership, were promptly moved to the border with Serbia. Waiting for a presupposed attack. Don't record us, we do not need anything. I don't need anything. We don't need anything! Inside Kosovo, KFOR units were working only on evacuation of the attacked people. They were taking them to their bases, where they gave them soup and blankets. Houses, flats, estates were left without protection. Terrorists had a clear way to rob and pillage. International forces of KFOR, for the second time like it or not, participated in ethnic cleansing. 100m behind buildings of KFOR, behind the KFOR base, there was almost a war going on for 1.5 hrs. With the Albanians. KFOR didn't even try to cross those 100 meters. I asked: 'Is this New York, so you don't know what was going on. Even in New York you would have came in 1.5 hours. 87 houses. And those were not common gypsy homes. One house was 560 square meters, others were not less than 200 sqm. Those were educated rich people. They were surely not Serbs. Why did you set them on fire? The French held them under tents. They didn't let women to get out to give birth. On 17th or 18th, when it was. They were shooting over the hill. There. When they started to shoot I have called the mission from here on the phone. I took them to the place where it was happening. They saw from themselves. When the shooting started from there, they pointed the reflectors there. I said 'That doesn't count, it doesn't!" Move from there. When they moved away with the lights, shooting started all over again. I said 'Is this it?' They said 'Yes.' I said: 'Now shoot there.' He said 'I am not allowed to' Why are you carrying guns then? If you can't give me the gun. 'I am not allowed to' Well what then? What? I should defend with an ax or fork? Оbilic, Kosovo March 2004 Xavier Solana, NATO general secretary at the time, signs activation order to bombard Yugoslavia. At a new function of Commissar for European Security, he visited Kosovo. Where shall we go? I wish to stay here where I was born. On my land. I do nothing to anybody. Every night, our men, without armament are guarding us, women and children. How shall we save ourselves? Can we? Is there any hope that UN will do something for us. This is how Serbian populated areas looked like before the bombardment. And this is the state at the beginning of the occupation. Serbs wanted to come back, but Albanian extremists didn't like the idea. They organized persecution, and with assistance from KFOR they acquire more territory at 2004. However, Serbs still remained at some areas. For example here in ghetto at Gorny Orakhovats. It is being guarded by Austrian KFOR. Well it is mostly as you can see... Every street is empty, there is no people here. People left from here. They are buying a house or an apartment in Serbia... At this moment we still have 7.5 thousand families which are waiting to return without any conditions. They want to return without asking for any condition whatsoever. No security or anything, just to return. Provide us that. Provide us that we can do that. How does everyone has a right for that. There is no nation that has no right to return. The biggest worry of Kosovo Ministry of Culture is choosing of Miss. The only investments in Kosovo are not for manufacturing companies, but mosques. Get out of here you Catholic! You are all dumb. You Mother Teresa, we'll cut your throat you Catholic, Catholic... Monastery Zochishte. Serbs invested for its reconstruction. Kosovo UN mission retreated before Albanian extremists and ordered Serbs to tear the roof down. Why does UN and KFOR work for the benefit of Albanian extremists? There are not many occasions for Serbs to be happy. One of those in annual wine harvest in Velika Khocha. Winegrowers must not go into the wine yards more than 50 meters away from their homes, but their Merlot is famous. Soldiers of different nations are gathering there from all over Kosovo, Metohia and north of Serbia. But parting hurts. Shall they see each other in a year? Will they ever again? We are optimists, and are hoping that that we will be able to live again, and that our people will be able to return here. This is our land, our country, we hope. And I do not see a Serb who will dare to sign off Kosovo to another country. It is difficult. There is no help from anyone. Neither from Serbia or UNMIK, nobody. We are left to ourselves. Is that civilization. Fadil Hoxha said himself that those are barbarians for his own people. I do not say anything, and you conclude for yourselves what they are like. We are not asking for one foot of land that is not ours. Not one grain of sand that is not ours. But don't let anyone take away our grain of sand. You can take away everything from us. You are powerful. Now you can do whatever you like. Next year it can be independent. You can do, it is up to you what you will do. But we do not have to agree with that. If you seize assets from us, from now in 100 years, or 200 years, we would have a legitimate right to return it. My great-grandson has the right to return it.
