Daniel Giménez Alcañiz (born 22 June 1984) is a Spanish football coach who is the assistant coach of Egyptian Premier League club Modern Future FC.

Career

Spain

Born in Barcelona, Spain, Giménez began his career by coaching youth teams in his native city.[2] He coached in youth categories for CE L'Hospitalet, CE Júpiter, and the FC Barcelona Academy.[2][3] He then coached the under-20 teams of UE Sants and CB Terlenka.[4] Between 2014 and 2016. In 2015, he obtained the UEFA Pro Licence.[5]

Move to Lebanon

In 2016, Giménez moved to Lebanon, where he was head coach of Salam Zgharta's reserve team Amal Salam Zgharta until 2017,[6] when he became head coach of their under-19 team for one season.[2] He then opened his own academy in January 2020:[7] Club Deportivo Beirut.[8]

Al Ahed FC

Giménez joined Ahed's technical staff as assistant coach and he was appointed technical director as well.[2] As assistant coach he helped Ahed win the 2019 Lebanese Super Cup and the 2019 AFC Cup.[9][10]

Al Nejmeh SC

On 23 June 2021, Giménez became assistant coach of Nejmeh, as well as the head coach of their under-20 team.[11] As Nejmeh's coach, Youssef Al Jawhari, left the club mid-season, Giménez coached Nejmeh's league game against Safa on 12 September, in a goalless draw.[12] He helped the U20 team to finish first in their group of the league in the 2021–22 season.[13]

Lebanon National Team U17

Giménez was appointed head coach of the Lebanon national under-17 team ahead of the 2023 AFC U-17 Asian Cup qualification.[14]

Al Akhaa Ahly Aley

On 26 October 2022, he became head coach of Akhaa Ahli Aley in the Lebanese Premier League.[15]

Move to Sudan

In December 2021, Giménez moved to Sudan, where he was appointed as assistant coach of Al Hilal.

Al-Hilal

On 3 December 2021, Giménez was announced assistant coach of Sudanese club Al-Hilal.[16] The team participated in CAF Champions League 2022 and Giménez helped the team to win the Sudan Premier League 2021-2022.

Move to Egypt

In November 2023, Giménez was appointed as assistant coach in the Egyptian Premier League of Modern Future FC.

Modern Future FC

On 14 November 2023, Giménez was appointed as assistant coach of Ricardo Formosinho. The team participated in CAF Confederation Cup and Giménez helped the team to get the second place in the Egyptian Super Cup winning in the semifinals against Pyramids after penalties and losing the final against Al Ahly after the extra time.

Personal life

Giménez is married to Cynthia Maalouf,[17] a Lebanese guitarist.[18]
