DC League of Super-Pets is an upcoming American 3D computer-animated superhero comedy action-adventure film written and directed by Jared Stern and co-directed by Sam Levine (in their respective directorial debuts), and is based on the DC Comics team originally introduced as the Legion of Super-Pets. The film's voice cast includes Dwayne Johnson (who also produces the film), Kevin Hart, Kate McKinnon, John Krasinski, Vanessa Bayer, Natasha Lyonne, Diego Luna, and Keanu Reeves.

DC League of Super-Pets will be produced by Warner Animation Group, DC Entertainment, Seven Bucks Productions, and A Stern Talking To, and will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. The film is scheduled to be theatrically released in the United States on May 20, 2022.

Premise

The pets of DC superheroes (Superman's dog, Krypto; Batman's dog, Ace the Bat-Hound; Wonder Woman's kangaroo, Jumpa; and Supergirl's cat, Streaky the Supercat) form a crime-fighting team of their own.[2][3]

Voice cast

Additionally, Kate McKinnon, John Krasinski, Vanessa Bayer, Natasha Lyonne, Diego Luna, Keanu Reeves and Jameela Jamil have been cast in undisclosed roles.[4][5]

Production

Development

In July 2018, Jared Stern was hired to write and direct an animated DC Super Pets film.[6] In January 2019, it was announced that Sam Levine would serve as co-director with Stern, and that Patricia Hicks had signed on as producer.[2]

In May 2021, it was announced that Dwayne Johnson[4] will star as the voice of Krypto the Superdog, with other A-list actors in negotiations to co-star. In addition to starring in the film, he, alongside Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia, and Stern will be joining Hicks as producers; while John Requa, Glenn Ficarra and Nicholas Stoller set to serve as executive producers.[1]

In June 2021, the rest of the cast was later announced, with Kevin Hart set to voice Ace the Bat-Hound in the film. The following week, Jameela Jamil joined the film.[4][7]

In September 2021, it was revealed that Marc Maron had joined the cast as the voice of Lex Luthor.[8]

Animation

The animation will be provided by Animal Logic.[9]

Release

In January 2019, the film was scheduled to be released on May 21, 2021.[2] The release date was later pushed back to May 20, 2022, in favor of The Matrix Resurrections, another film starring Reeves.[3]

Video game

A video game based on film titled DC League of Super-Pets: The Adventures of Krypto and Ace was announced during DC Fandome, to be released in spring 2022.[10]
