As we look around we see a lot of different agencies, federal, state, local, volunteers, and I think this exceeds my expectations what I was hoping when we first talked about this in the LAPC of getting everybody together. We're going to give you the scenario, we'll set up the scene for you. And we want to make this as realistic as possible, in a mock situation. And so we do have role players who will play parts of victims. We have role players that will play the parts of bad guys. We have role players that will be mixing in with the whole scenario. "I can help you." "Don't touch me." "2242 just got report of a alluding suspect near Ranch Road by the old Syndical Gravel Pit. Subject was involved in an accident with the deputies break." "We got shots fired on location coming down from the top of the hill. Are you guys hearing those shots." Today was our training exercise with the Boise County local emergency planning committee. It was a unique day for the county. This is the first time that we've been able to bring all the incident responders within the county for our fire agencies, our ambulance services, as well as the sheriff's office to come together, to do some training on some mock scenarios in the field. "There's a three-year-old and a six-year-old, and they're gone." "Well, we've designed these scenarios to be a little more challenging than the average because most first responders don't have the chance to practice anything. When they come onto a scene and their presented with something unusual. We want them to have an opportunity to experience that and think about it ahead of time. And so we've purposely created scenarios where they are a little outside of their normal operations." "We also have two missing kids so when you guys get there keep an eye out." "Suspect vehicle collided and the deputy vehicle was unable to avoid hitting him." We started this day with four basic objectives. One wants to evaluate our incident responders as they respond to an incident, how they're utilizing basic incident command system. "So right now as the IC of this incident, all of the responders that are coming to this incident, need to coordinate with what the mission is that this IC needs." The second objective was to evaluate their communications and their effectiveness, whether it was through radios, or in briefings, also their documentation with incident organizers. "We have a female down possible heart attack, can you guys come on up with the ambulance." Our third objective was to evaluate our responders as it relates to scene safety, and the safety of incident responders when they do respond to either a fire, a medical incident, or law enforcement incident. "Dr. Smith out of Boise St. Luke's is her physician." And our last objective was to evaluate the tactical effectiveness and their operations, and they're span of control "and the whole time the communications was good between the other agencies." As a volunteer agency, the more exercises we can get the better it is for us. I thought that the exercise was well put together, I think that the participants, all I heard all day long is hey I learned something today. Even if we have one person say that, that's a huge advantage for all of us. But to have multiple people saying that, it's a win-win across the county." "This whole volunteer effort is something that IDL supports statewide. Our whole mission within the IDL protection is to create volunteer fire department supportive, so that they can get out as first responders and we can work together, we can keep the cost of fire at a minimal. I'm always amazed at Boise County and how we turn out volunteers. We've got 80 or so people here today, in addition to the people who stayed home to make sure that their home areas are safe, and to be able to respond on a normal Saturday afternoon like this. We had great successes today. The most important thing that I believe came out of today was building relationships. Relationships not only between fire, EMS, and law enforcement. It was also relationships with our volunteer agencies that are relied upon here in Boise County..
