[INSPIRING MUSIC] [PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA] The relationship between our nations must be defined not by the threats that we face but by the prosperity and the opportunity that we can create together. [SECRETARY JOHN KERRY] If we work together, play our cards right, the Western Hemisphere can become literally the most stable and prosperous region in the world. In the past decade, trade between the United States and the Americas nearly tripled. This growth has lifted the lives of citizens. More than 73 million people in Latin America were lifted out of poverty. [VICE PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN] The economic muscle and might of the 21st century will reside in the Western Hemisphere. [PRESIDENT OBAMA] Every parent has aspirations for their children to do even better than they did. [SECRETARY KERRY] Young Americanos are global learners and we have to make sure that they can be those global learners so that they can thrive in the economies that we are developing. [PRESIDENT OBAMA] That's why I launched the 100,000 Strong in the Americas initiative [CHEERING] to significantly increase educational exchanges among our countries. [VICE PRESIDENT BIDEN] The more exposed to each other's culture, the more fluent we are in each other's languages, the more knowledgeable about each other's economies and societies we are, that is the thing, in fact, which is going to build this incredible alliance in the Hemisphere, this economic alliance. [PRESIDENT OBAMA] And that's how we're going to create new jobs and develop new markets, explore new ideas, and unleash the Hemisphere's extraordinary opportunity. Because when we study together, and we learn together, we work together, and we prosper together. That's what I believe. [APPLAUSE]
