Bucks County Community College (Bucks) is a public community college in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1964, Bucks has three campuses and online courses: a main campus in Newtown, an "Upper Bucks" campus in the town of Perkasie, and a "Lower Bucks" campus in the town of Bristol. There are also various satellite facilities located throughout the county. The college offers courses via face-to-face classroom-based instruction, eLearning classes offered completely online (often referred to as distance learning), and in hybrid (blended) modes that combine face-to-face instruction with online learning. The college is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.[2]

[music] Welcome to Bucks County Community College's original campus in Newtown Pennsylvania. Here you'll find state-of-the-art facilities treasured Bucks County history and 200 beautiful acres. Bucks is adjacent to Tyler State Park and convenient to interstate 95 and route 413. The Newtown campus was once the estate of banker, George F. Tyler, and his wife, artist, Stella Elkins Tyler. The Gateway Center, opposite the visitors parking lot, connects with most of the campus. Under the soaring atrium ceiling students meet between classes to study and relax. Gateway is home to computer classrooms and Gateway auditorium which offers a variety of student, faculty and other professional performances. Across the lobby is the library with books, digital resources, a wealth of computers with high speed Internet access and more. Inside the library you will also find the tutoring center offering extra help with coursework if you need. It if you're looking for more computers they are available on the library's upper level. The book store is located down the hall from the main library entrance, where you'll find your books and materials as well as that Bucks t-shirt you've been wanting. Downstairs from the library and bookstore are video, sound and music studios. Exit Gateway on this lower level to face Penn Hall and Founders Hall, which contain classrooms and science labs. Typical class size is 18 to 25 students, so you can get to know your professors. Some of our more popular majors include Business Studies, Liberal Arts, Education, Nursing and other health related programs, Psychology, Criminal Justice and Accounting. Most faculty offices are located here making your professors very accessible. Behind Founders Hall is the Early Learning Center, which offers affordable, high quality care for children of students, faculty, staff and alumni. Don't miss the unique Tyler gardens located nearby behind Tyler Hall. This picturesque haven is the perfect place to get inspired learn new things and let your mind soar. Historic Tyler Hall, once the Tyler family's home, houses the chef apprenticeship and historic preservation programs, as well as administrative offices and the college's Foundation, which awards hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships each year. The Orangery, near the gardens, with its majestic arched windows, is a special space for poetry readings, events, and classes. Back to the center quad and across from Founders Hall is the Rollins Center, home to Student Life, which coordinates clubs and organizations, and events including Spring Fling. The college offers more than 50 clubs where you'll meet people with similar interests, build leadership skills and make friends. Of course you have to eat. Across from Student Life is a spacious food court and large dining areas that look out over campus. And so many options: the deli, pizza shop, grill, salad bar, hot entrees and much more, including the Bucks Cafe, which serves Starbucks Coffee, snacks and sandwiches. Down the steps from the cafe, are Student Services and the Advising and Transfer Center, where educational planners help you choose courses that fit your schedule and move you toward achieving your goals. Student Services also includes Career Services, disAbility Services, and Counseling. Exit the main doors from the Rollins Center and straight ahead is the site of new science facilities now under construction. The Science Center will house new laboratories for biology, biotechnology and chemistry. Turn around from the new Science Center and you'll find the magnificent Linksz Pavilion, completed in 2013. On the first floor are Admissions, Registration, Financial Aid and Student Accounts. Upstairs is a popular commons area, adjacent to the gym, pool & Wellness Center. Nearby is the testing center where you take placement tests to help determine your first semester courses. Back outside and up the hill from the Linksz Pavilion are three buildings dedicated to the arts. First is 3-D Arts, with Fine Woodworking. Glass Blowing, and Sculpture. Next is the Hicks Art Center, home to the Hicks Arts Center Gallery, and facilities for painting, printmaking, photography and more. The Allied Health and Music and Multimedia Buildings are right across the path. Music and Multimedia is home to powerful Mac computer labs, the Presser Music Room and music rehearsal rooms including Steinway pianos. Adjacent is Allied Health, where students practice in simulated hospital rooms. Further up the hill are historic cottages from the original Tyler estate. Here you'll find additional music studios and offices for the college's Continuing Education, Workforce Development and Kids on Campus summer camp programs as well as the Security and Safety office, where you'll get your parking permit. Across the campus lane are athletic fields. In fact, the aerial footage from the beginning at this video was shot from quad copters that Bucks Engineering students built and launched here. The main Newtown campus is located on a former estate that Bucks County acquired in very early 1965 from Temple University, which had inherited it from Stella Elkins Tyler, a wealthy benefactor, only two years before. The George F. Tyler Mansion houses administrative offices.[3] It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.[4]

Newtown Campus is the oldest and largest campus, and is located at 275 Swamp Road in Newtown, Pennsylvania – directly adjacent to Tyler State Park.

Facilities include: library, computer labs, science labs, teleconference center, art studios and workshops, TV studios, auditorium, early learning center, fitness center, gymnasium, cafeteria, and café.[6]

Upper Bucks

The Upper Bucks Campus in Perkasie, Pennsylvania opened in 1999[8]

Lower Bucks

Established in 2007, the Gene & Marlene Epstein Campus at Lower Bucks is located in Bristol, Pennsylvania.[9]

Academics

Bucks offers over 90 academic programs within 7 Academic Departments, including 43 Associate's Degree programs designed to transfer to a four-year institution for the completion of a Bachelor's Degree. There are also 23 occupational Associate's Degree programs and 27 certificate programs, both designed to prepare students to directly enter the workforce in a variety of disciplines.[10]

The Department of Arts & Communication offers programs of study in Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Multimedia, Cinema/Video, Communication, Photography, Furniture & Cabinetmaking, Web & Multimedia Design, and Music. The School of Music is accredited by both the National Association of Schools of Art and Design and the National Association of Schools of Music.[11]

The Department of Business + Innovation Department offers programs in Business Administration, Accounting & Analytics, Business, Chef Apprenticeship: Foods emphasis, Chef Apprenticeship: Pastry emphasis, Emergency Management, Fire Science, Hospitality Management, Meeting, Convention and Event Planning, Paralegal Studies, Technical Entrepreneurship, Accounting & Taxation. Baking and Pastry, Business Analytics, Culinary Arts, Emergency Management Certificate, Fire Prevention & Investigation, Fire Science, Meeting, Convention and Event Planning, Paralegal, Social Media and Digital Marketing.[10] Business Administration, Business, Paralegal, and Account & Analytics programs accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).[12]

Health Sciences

The Department of Health Sciences Department offers programs in Health Science, Public Health, Nursing, Radiography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Medical Assisting, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Health Information Technology, Medical Laboratory Technician, Computed Tomography, Medical Coding, Patient Care Technician, and Phlebotomy.[13]

Kinesiology & Sport Studies

The Department of Kinesiology and Sport Studies offers programs in Exercise Science, Health and Physical Education (teacher education), Sport Management, and Dance, as well as certificates in Health Coaching and Recreational Leadership.[14]

Language & Literature

The Department of Language & Literature offers programs in English, Global Studies/World Languages, Guided Studies, Journalism, and Liberal Arts.

The Department hosts the Wordsmiths Series,[15] and is the home of the Tyler Literary Society's Literary magazine now in its 31st year.[16]

The Department of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) offers programs in Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Chemistry, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Science, Engineering, Environmental Science, Individual Transfer Studies, Mathematics, Neuroscience, Science, Secondary Education: Mathematics, Biotechnology, Brewing & Fermentation Science, Computer Networking Technology, Engineering Technology, Information Technology Studies, Biotechnology, Computer Networking Technology, and Computer Hardware Installation and Maintenance.[17]

Students can take advantage of transfer agreements with four-year institutions to complete their Bachelor's Degree, including 27 Transfer Intent (Dual Enrollment) agreements with the following schools:

IT Academy

The IT Academy at Bucks County Community College offers training for technology certification programs, as well as other technology courses. Certifications include CompTIA, Cisco Certified Networking Associate (CCNA), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Amazon Web Services (aws), and more.[21]

Center for Workforce Development

The Center for Workforce Development offers Career and Workforce Training, some of which is in partnership with PA CareerLink and the County of Bucks.[22] A new Center for Advanced Manufacturing began construction in the spring of 2021 at the Lower Bucks Campus.[13]

Fire & Public Safety

Department of Public and Industrial Safety Training & Certification offers training and accredited certifications in public safety operation and management, emergency management, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) industrial safety, and hazmat procedure.[23] They also host Fire Training Weekends for Pennsylvania fire departments.[24]
