Bismarck–Mandan, colloquially referred to as BisMan, is the metropolitan area composed of Burleigh, Morton, and Oliver counties in the state of North Dakota.
Its core cities, Bismarck and Mandan, are located on opposite sides of the upper Missouri River. Lincoln is a suburb located immediately south-east of Bismarck. The 2022 population of the MSA was estimated at 134,846. The area grew considerably with the addition of Oliver and Sioux counties in 2013. However, with relatively sparse populations, the addition of Oliver and Sioux counties only added approximately 6,300 people to the metropolitan population, many of whom were later excluded when Sioux county was removed in 2018.[1] The 2020 Bismarck–Mandan–Lincoln urban population is estimated at 98,198.

I was invited to play viola with the Sonorus String Quartet in October of 2011. I've enjoyed learning more about the viola since my primary instrument is actually violin. The next piece we're going to play for you is Dvorak's Quartet #12 in F Major, nicknamed "The American" because he supposedly composed it after an 1883 trip to the Americas, where he used Native American folk tunes and themes. The piece we're going to play is called La Oracion del Torero, which means "the prayer of the bullfighter." It was composed by Joaquin Turina, a composer from Spain. It was originally done for lutes and was transcribed for a string quartet by the same composer.
