Badwater is a locale in Inyo County, California.[1] It is located in Death Valley 7 miles (11 km) northeast of Bennetts Well,[2] at an elevation of −266 feet (−81 m).[1]

Badwater has never had a permanent population, though there is a 1946 report of a campsite at Badwater.[4]

Badwater is also known for being the start of the Badwater Ultramarathon, billed as the toughest foot race on the planet.[5]
