Ba Fadal ( Arabic: با فضل)

Their lineage goes back to the Saad clan, one of the sons of Madhhij al-Qahtanis.They are among the oldest residents of the city of Tarim, and they had the academic and religious leadership there before the arrival of the Alawites. This tribe branched out into various houses and clans that were famous for their knowledge, righteousness, and understanding of religion, including the Belhaj family, the descendants of Sheikh Muhammad al-Hajj bin Abdul Rahman Bafadl, from whose descendants prominent scholars emerged, including Sheikh Abdullah bin Abdul Rahman Bafadl, author of the famous work “The Hadrami Introduction to the Jurisprudence of the Shafi’i Sayyids.”

It is considered one of the most important texts of Shafi’i jurisprudence. The sheikhs, the Al Bafd family, were distinguished among the tribes of Hadhramaut by their complete blending and spiritual union in doctrine, drink, method, and belief with the Alawite masters.
