[HorribleSubs] Arpeggio of Blue Steel - Ars Nova - 02.ass (DOWNLOAD SUBTITLES)

Offshore Kumano, Kii Peninsula

Typhoon 11 Storm Zone

Eye of Typhoon 11

Fleet of Fog: East Patrol Fleet 1 Heavy Cruiser Takao

Another decoy.

Come quickly, 401.

I will sink you.

Arpeggio of Blue Steel

Into the Storm

Active decoy destroyed.

We have three more remaining in action.

Sonar, status on Takao?

It's continuing to cruise in tandem with the eye of the typhoon.

A heavy cruiser, huh?

That's a pretty big fish.

I would have expected even a Fog ship

to suffer from reduced detection abilities in this weather, but...

Takao has sunk our decoys with perfect accuracy.

Iona, plot the sunk decoys again.

Understood.

Overlay Takao's detection range.

Applying overlay.

It lines up perfectly.

Yeah.

Takao's detection range hasn't decreased as much as I'd expected.

Um...

May I make a suggestion?

Go ahead.

Why don't we divert our course to the

outer sea and work our way around Takao's territory?

A protracted battle will put us at a disadvantage.

Wouldn't Takao simply reposition itself if we do that?

That's true, but...

Iona, plot the course to Yokosuka.

Request received.

We are currently within Typhoon 11's storm zone.

Plan A involves continuing our current course along the Typhoon's path, then turning north,

avoiding detection by Takao, and entering the Port of Yokosuka.

That plan's already bust.

That leaves us with Plan B.

Leave the typhoon, circle around Takao's picket line,

and approach Yokosuka.

This is Shizuka's suggestion.

However, there's no guarantee that Takao won't pursue us.

Plus, it would mean that we may arrive in Yokosuka

with Takao still hot on our heels.

The problem is what the Fog will do at that point.

Until now, their targets were limited

to ships and aircraft that attempted to depart for the open sea.

However...

Iona, what would Takao do if a ship broke through

the naval blockade and attempted to

enter the Port of Yokosuka?

She would attack.

Even after the ship has entered port?

Probably.

The Admirality Code, which is the highest order

commanding the Fleet of Fog,

has forbidden direct attacks on land targets for reasons unknown.

Is that correct, Iona?

Yes.

But, it permits collateral damage

incurred during their attacks on ships?

That is also correct.

Consequently, it's likely the Port of Yokosuka

will suffer damage as a result of our being attacked.

We can't let that happen.

There are residential areas right next to the harbor.

It'd be a disaster.

There's another factor, too.

The typhoon will eventually become a tropical depression, and disperse.

That will significantly reduce our chances of victory.

So we have a limited window of opportunity.

That brings us to Plan C.

We defeat Takao here.

We're talking a heavy cruiser, here!

Defeat... Takao...

Iona, status on decoys?

Quantum communications nominal.

They'll be fine for at least two more hours.

I see.

Iori.

Here.

How long can we maintain combat-level energy outputs?

I can guarantee three minutes!

All right.

Surface, Iona.

Move the decoys at the same time, as well.

Can you do it?

Yes.

We'll surface with the decoys.

We're gonna surface?

Are you serious?

I am.

We'll use the storm as a screen

and attack Takao before it gets our bearings.

Start engines!

Output at five percent!

Starting engines. Five percent output.

Graviton floats online.

Increase buoyancy by six from neutral.

Surface at slow speed!

Commencing surface.

Maintain level trim.

Go with the current.

Surface simultaneously with the decoys.

All men to battle stations!

They're on the move!

Four contacts.

Is one real,

or are they all decoys?

Whatever the case,

do they really think they can

use the storm to shield themselves from me on the surface?

Iona, do you believe Takao is already aware of our movements?

Not possible, given Takao's specs.

What about your Concept Comm System?

Our Concept Comm System isn't affected by distance and interference.

So Takao totally knows.

All Takao knows is that I still exist.

She's not able to determine my direction and distance.

All right!

I guess we have a chance.

I see. So that's the real 401.

Takao's noise levels are increasing?

Takao is turning about.

Have we been found?

Stay calm.

Continue to surface.

Roger, steady as she goes.

Engage.

First, I'll drop your Klein Field to critical levels with one blow.

Forward torpedo tubes, standby!

Load tubes one through three with low-frequency torpedoes!

Roger.

Load tube seven with a corrosive torpedo!

Once loading's complete, open outer doors for all tubes!

What is this?

Captain, I'm picking up a strange noise.

It's not from the typhoon?

It might be...

but I've never heard anything like this.

Loading complete, doors open.

Gunzou.

No, it's nothing.

I won't be like Hyuuga.

Depth 15.

Hurry up to the surface, 401...

Depth 10.

Approaching surface.

That's it...

Yes, that's the way...

3 seconds till surface.

2...

1...

Surface.

Sidekick!

Hard to port!

Sidekick, hard to port.

Reverse floats!

Maximum output!

Crash dive!

Launch everything we've got!

Takao knows our precise location!

I missed?

But my timing for the supergravity cannon was perfect...

Tubes one through three, launch low-frequency torpedoes!

Detonate at will!

Stir up the waters!

Roger!

Seven seconds till detonation!

Launch!

Sonar detecting multiple contacts, incoming at high speed!

Torpedoes!

Iona!

Use the active decoys as shields!

Understood.

We've lost the three decoys.

Low-frequency torpedo detonation in... T minus three seconds.

Shizuka! Mute headphones.

Cut engines!

Enter silent running!

I've lost contact with 401?

Hull and watertight integrity nominal.

We lost a few sensors,

but currently no cause for concern.

Kyouhei.

Weapons system, vetronics nominal.

We can go anytime.

Iori.

Engine room, all systems nominal.

What about the Klein Field?

Oh, thanks to the close encounter with the supergravity cannon,

it's one step away from reaching a critical point.

Are we okay, Iona?

For now, yes.

But if we don't release the energy absorbed by the Klein Field,

it will reach a saturation point and collapse.

If we do that, we'll announce our location to the enemy.

Shizuka, analyze the sound pattern prior to the

supergravity cannon attack so that we'll be

forewarned when Takao tries that again.

It's already been added to the sonic database.

In any case,

I'm impressed you realized

that we were being targeted by a supergravity cannon.

We were lucky that Takao had such precise aim.

Iona, display the combat map as it was before we surfaced.

Okay.

Takao kept its prow pointed right at us the whole time.

That artless honesty gave it away.

It's as if it was Takao was announcing

to the world that it was targeting the 401.

I see.

If we were in Takao's place,

we would've pretended not to notice until the last second.

Still, how'd Takao know where we were with such precision?

It totally ignored the active decoys.

Wasn't that just, like, dumb luck or something?

I don't think so.

What do you mean?

I just feel that Takao had been watching me the whole time.

Ever since we made our move,

I feel like she never took her eyes off of me.

That's a pretty vague description coming from someone of the Fog.

I can't express it well in words.

This is the best I can do.

I get it, now.

Huh?

What do you mean?

There's no such thing

as coincidence when it comes to the Fog.

There's another one out there.

Iona, analyze the detection range based on the cannon attack,

and overlay that on Takao's known range based on her specs.

Hey, even a fast battleship's detection range would be beat by that.

That's impossible!

It isn't impossible.

It's the truth.

Seriously?

Seriously.

In addition to this tremendous range,

its sonar has a resolution high enough to distinguish us from a decoy.

A ship with that kind of capacity...

Must be some sort of

observation submarine with high stealth capacity.

But, our sonar didn't pick up any other vessels.

That just means it's hiding in the shadow of Takao's echo.

I thought Takao was stationary because it was leery of the rough seas,

but the real reason was that it simply couldn't move.

It would make sense...

but isn't it just a hypothesis?

Hypotheses exist to be proven.

It's now our turn to surprise the enemy.

Iona, we're going to use the loot from Hyuuga.

Okay.

Wait a minute!

We've only tested it in simulations!

There's no telling how much it might burden the system if we use it!

Can we do this, Iona?

It'll be okay... I think.

Iona!

Give it up.

Our captain may not look it, but he's a gambler.

Launch.

Finally emerging from your lair, 401?

Thirty degrees up trim, full speed ahead!

All men at battle stations!

Ready forward torpedo tubes.

Load tubes one through six with homing torpedoes.

I leave the homing pattern to you!

Load tubes seven and eight with corrosive torpedoes.

Roger that.

Iona, input specifications into corrosive torpedoes.

Roger.

Launch tubes one through six.

Don't fall behind, 501.

Takao changing course to bearing 185 at 7 knots!

That's damn slow!

Maybe it really is hiding something, just like Gunzou said!

Tubes seven and eight, launch corrosive torpedoes!

Thanatonium readings... Corrosive torpedoes?

I won't fall for that.

The human who programmed these torpedoes isn't half bad.

But,

can you evade all of these corrosive warheads?!

Takao changing course to bearing 150!

Iona, standby!

Understood.

Engine output at maximum!

Blow the graviton floats!

All hands, employ shock resistance!

Surface at rapid speed!

Farewell, 401.

What?

A supergravity cannon?

Why would a mere patrol submarine have that?!

501, emergency evasive maneuvers!

Sever contacts!

Damn bastard was clinging to Takao

to look like there was only one ship!

Locked on Takao along firing axis.

Her Mental Model?

Decrease firing angle by three degrees!

Decreasing angle by three degrees.

But we'll miss Takao—

That's fine!

Takao's attempting to break away.

Hurry up!

I can't maintain this energy flow!

All hands, brace for imminent shock.

Fire supergravity cannon!

Firing.

I see.

401 won.

Impressive, Chihaya Gunzou.

It seems you've lost.

It's just a weapon lockdown for 24 hours.

Because...

401 was hiding a supergravity cannon.

But, why did she have that?

They must've looted it off Hyuuga.

Humans are very creative.

It was Hyuuga's?!

401 and Hyuuga have engaged in the past.

And Hyuuga lost.

To suffer theft at the hands of humans... how pathetic.

And you were forced by 401 to

lock your weapons and retreat to the outer seas.

How can you belittle Hyuuga?

I won't let them get away with this.

This isn't like you.

What are you thinking?

I'll be taking my leave!

There you are.

I placed quite a strain on you.

It's not a problem.

We are weapons.

Combat is our very reason for existence.

I see.

And you were forced by 401 to

lock your weapons and retreat to the outer seas.

How can you belittle Hyuuga?

Chihaya Gunzou... why didn't you sink me?

If I had a human unit aboard,

I would also be capable of such tactics.

I, too, want that unit...
