Something that I have always been interested in is basketball always. my sister and I our whole lives kind of revolved around sports. We played all year round and that's what we did just from the time that we were little up through high school and into college. The whole sports being a part of my life was it was really fun, it was competitive, and it was -- I was good at it. So there was always basketball. And when I was on the ship we would play in the hangar bay underway And one of the girls she said, "You know, have you ever heard of this all Navy thing and all Navy basketball?" And I instantly went to the Academy like, "Oh, like Navy, like NCAA D1 basketball?" "Of course." No. It's a little different than that." And she explained to me that there's tryouts And then if you're good enough then you go to a mini camp. And then if you're good enough for there then you make the team. And for a month and a half you play basketball. That's your job. And the Navy pays for it and they give you money you know, you get up in the morning and you have practice. And you have off and then you have practice and you do that for a month and a half. And you just play basketball. And I was, "All right." So I went to the tryouts and I made the team. I made the -- you know, for the mini camp. They take 25 girls and then we went to D.C. And I'm playing against the girls that did graduate from the Academy. 12 girls got to stay and I got to stay. I met the most amazing people when I was there that I'm still in touch with.
