  • ✪ Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush Teaches At Texas A&M University

Transcription

It's hard work to put together a class over seven days, five and a half hours a day, but I did it to honor my dad and I did it about a subject I know something about, which is the role of governors in American life. There are a lot of students here that are going to go serve in public life in state and local governments and hopefully this class will help. There hasn't been a lot of courses specifically on the role of the governor in the creation of policy, the power to convene, the ability to deal with emergencies. Our team interviewed probably twenty governors, and so Democrats and Republicans alike, as governors, have that shared experience and there's a lot of commonality of interest. We have six or seven students from overseas, quite a few from the military coming back for more academic pursuits, and people from all walks of life. It's really an amazing group. What I know about Texas A&M really revolves around my dad. If he loves Texas A&M, I do too. This was just an incredible honor and I'm really appreciative of the chance to do this.
