The 1986–87 Harty Cup was the 67th staging of the Harty Cup since its establishment by the Munster Council of Gaelic Athletic Association in 1918.[1] The competition ran from 11 February to 29 March 1987.

North Monastery were the defending champions, however, they were beaten by St Flannan's College in the semi-finals.[2][3]

The Harty Cup final was played on 29 March 1987 at FitzGerald Park in Kilmallock, between St Flannan's College and Midleton CBS, in what was their second meeting in the final overall and a first meeting in 43 years. St Flannan's College won the match by 3–12 to 2–06 to claim their 13th Harty Cup title overall and a first title in four years.[4][5]

Limerick CBS's Michael Hickey was the top scorer with 4–14.
