The 1932 United States presidential election in West Virginia took place on November 8, 1932, as part of the 1932 United States presidential election. West Virginia voters chose eight[2] representatives, or electors, to the Electoral College, who voted for president and vice president.
West Virginia was won by Governor Franklin D. Roosevelt (D–New York), running with Speaker John Nance Garner, with 54.47% of the popular vote, against incumbent President Herbert Hoover (R–California), running with Vice President Charles Curtis, with 44.4% of the popular vote.[3][4]
This election marked the beginning of West Virginia's transition to a strongly Democratic-leaning state during the 20th century. It voted Democratic in every election from 1932 to 1956, and would not vote for Republicans in two consecutive elections until 2000 and 2004.
