Presidential elections were held in the Republic of New Granada in 1856.[1] Following constitutional reforms in 1853, they were the first direct presidential elections in the country.

Following the elections, Congress convened on 4 February 1857 to verify the results.[1] The result was a victory for Mariano Ospina Rodríguez of the Conservative Party.[2]
