Пестряки́[1][2] (лат. Cleridae) — семейство насекомых из отряда жесткокрылых.

Описание

Trichodes ornatus на цветке

Яркие красивые жуки с пестрой окраской (Пестряк пчелиный). Длина тела от нескольких миллиметров до примерно двух сантиметров. Усики булавовидные или пиловидные, состоят из 11 сегментов. Взрослых насекомых можно встретить на цветах зонтичных и сложноцветных растений. Большинство видов хищники на стадии имаго и на стадии личинок. Живут в ходах древесных жуков-ксилофагов, в гнёздах пчёл и ос[1].

Распространение

Жуки-пестряки обнаружены в Америке, Африке, Европе, Азии и в Австралии. Всего в мире известно около 3500 видов. В Северной Америке около 500 видов[3].

Палеонтология

Древнейшие пестряки были найдены в отложениях средней юры Китая[4]. Представители семейства известны также из верхней юры Монголии, балтийского янтаря и олигоценовых отложений США[5].

Систематика

Относится к надсемейству Клероидные (Cleroidea Latreille, 1802) из серии семейств Кукуйиформные (Cucujiformia, =Chrysomelomorpha).
