Watson was announced in October 2022, to be created, written, produced and showrun by Craig Sweeny who had previously worked on Elementary.[2] The show was given a straight to series order, bypassing the pilot stage.[3]

By January 2024, Morris Chestnut was attached to executive produce and star as the title character.[4] Executive producer Larry Teng will direct the first episode.[5] In May, Peter Mark Kendall and Ritchie Coster were announced as the first core cast additions.[6]

The series will be shot in Vancouver in June 2024, although the show's setting will be Pittsburgh.[7][8]

Release

The series is scheduled to premiere in the mid-season replacement for the 2024–25 television season on CBS.[9] The show will be available to stream on Paramount+.
