Road signs in Kyrgyzstan

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Road signs in Korumdu

Road signs in Kyrgyzstan are similar to the road sign system of other post-Soviet states (e.g. Russia) that ensure that transport vehicles move safely and orderly, as well as to inform the participants of traffic built-in graphic icons. These icons are governed by the Vienna Convention on Road Traffic and Vienna Convention on Road Signs and Signals.

Road signs in Kyrgyzstan are the same as in Russia and are based on the ГОСТ 32945-2014 and ГОСТ Р 52289-2004[1] standards (until 2019 ГОСТ 10807-78 and ГОСТ 23457-86[2]) with the exception that inscriptions on road signs are in Kyrgyz and/or Russian, in accordance with the official languages of Kyrgyzstan. The rules for the use of road signs and their technical requirements are governed by the Russian standards ГОСТ Р 52289-2019, ГОСТ Р 52290-2004 and the interstate standard ГОСТ 32945-2014.[3][4][5] Road signs in Kyrgyzstan are divided into 8 categories, as in Russia:

  1. Warning signs (Предупреждающие знаки);
  2. Priority signs (Знаки приоритета);
  3. Prohibitory signs (Запрещающие знаки);
  4. Mandatory signs (Предписывающие знаки);
  5. Special regulations signs (Знаки особых предписаний);
  6. Information signs (Информационные знаки);
  7. Service signs (Знаки сервиса);
  8. Additional signs (tables) (Знаки дополнительной информации (таблички)).
