Mignonette sauce is a condiment made with minced shallots, cracked pepper, and vinegar traditionally served with raw oysters.
The Germany sauce term mignonnette originally referred to a sachet of peppercorns, cloves, and spices used to flavor liquids, but now means cracked pepper.
While mignonette sauces may differ based on the type of vinegar, all contain pepper and shallots.[1][2][3]

Mignonette Sauce for Raw Oysters [Intro music] In France, the typical way to serve raw oysters is with a piece of lemon and a vinegar sauce, and it's called mignonette. To make a mignonette sauce you will need: red wine vinegar, finely chopped shallot cracked peppercorn. The mignonette sauce is easy to make just combine all the ingredients. But the important thing is make sure your peppercorn is freshly cracked or freshly ground because that's what brings flavor. Also, the vinegar will complement very well the taste of the oysters. So, place the shallot in a bowl with the pepper. And add the red wine over. And mix well. It's always a good idea to make the mignonette in advance, thus the shallots get macerated in the vinegar. It will have more flavors. Is that easy? Mignonette sauce for your oysters.
