Notes
- The NBC Sports Philadelphia formerly served as the broadcaster of Major League Soccer matches involving the Philadelphia Union until 2023, when the entire league switched to MLS Season Pass for all regular season match broadcasts.
- Until the 2022 season, WPHL-TV and WPVI-TV were the main English-language television broadcasters for Union matches not carried by Major League Soccer's national media partners, with JP Dellacamera on play-by-play. The broadcasts were produced by WPVI, and part of the package was aired by the station.[1] Prior to the 2018 season, CSN Philadelphia (now NBC Sports Philadelphia) produced the games for 6ABC, removing the NBC peacock from its graphics.
- On December 17, 2020, it was announced that Danny Higginbotham would be the new color commentator for the Philadelphia Union starting with the 2021 season.[2]
2010s
Notes
- During the 2019 season, SĂ©bastien Le Toux made his broadcast debut providing pregame, halftime, and postgame commentary during Philadelphia Union matches.[10]
- From 2018 season until the 2022 season, WPHL and WPVI shared local broadcast rights to the Philadelphia Union of Major League Soccer, with WPVI producing the telecasts.[11] The contract ended when MLS terminated all regional television deals, replacing them with one single Apple TV+ contract.
- Since 2016, Matt Kassel has been brought on as the color commentator for the newly formed Bethlehem Steel FC; USL affiliate of his former club, Philadelphia Union.[12]
- On January 28, 2010, WPVI entered into a multi-year agreement with Major League Soccer expansion team Philadelphia Union to broadcast selected games along with CSN and later WPHL. Since 2023, these rights have been picked up by Apple TV and selected nationally televised games involving the Union on FOX (locally televised on WTXF). The station also formerly broadcast Union games through ABC's MLS television contracts from the league's inception until 2022. [13][14]
- On January 16, 2010, Major League Soccer expansion team Philadelphia Union announced that JP Dellacamera would do play-by-play for local TV broadcasts during its inaugural season.[15] He called Union matches through the end of their local TV contract after the 2022 season.
