Then I heard voices and I heard my wife, who was somewhere in the forest and called me. So I took my clothes off and went to see her. I'm Lars Rudolph. It's a film about gold seekers. In 1898, there was a gold rush in Canada up on the Yukon. Wonderful. And now, please... It's in the competition. By Thomas Arslan. We're both from the Kreuzberg/Neukölln Kiez. And I've known Thomas for 15 years or so, since I've been working as an actor. I'll move on, too. "GOLD" BY THOMAS ARSLAN Indeed, I've been riding horses for two years, because I had had some bad experiences with people, with breaches of trust and backstabbing, and I thought I had to do something with animals, that I needed to communicate with an animal. And I thought I'd buy a goat. I think they smell nice, they make good cheese, and they are fun animals. But then there was a farm horse in my neighbour's meadow. I started to build a relationship with him and was allowed to ride him, too. But neither the horse nor I knew how to ride. That led to the first few minor and major back injuries after I fell off. I learned how to ride with this horse so to speak, his name was Bubi. We're going for a drink now. In the... in the... in... some kind of lounge. Actually, I was a musician for a long time. It was not until my mid 30s that I started attending acting schools. My first daughter was born and I thought I had to learn a trade which would be better paid than music. And acting does that? Acting does that, yes. I can only recommend it. Right, gentlemen. And this is what you can expect. "GOLD" BY THOMAS ARSLAN As an actor, you always look for the biggest thing you could play, from an emotional point of view. That's where it gets interesting, because that's what grips the audience. If it's dear to you. We all have to fight for something. Oh, this is where the photo shoot is. Let's have a look. Til Schweiger left. He got tired of it. Til probably... What the ladies expect is more important than reporters. We are going to see our film now. We're very excited. And... Nina Hoss is ill. Luckily. Now we get a look in. No, it's very sad that she's ill, of course. Her throat is like this, she has the flu. The first entrance. We're here at a club called King George, I think. Or Prince Charles? Oh, right, Prince Charles. They all saw the film for the first time and everyone is happy. There was one laugh where I say, it's a great misfortune to step on a bear trap in such a huge country. Uwe Bohm stepped on one. It was one of the few laughs. It's a very serious film. But great, I mean... This is our party. What else will happen, who's to know? Subtitles: Stephanie Geiges
