  • Santa Fe Plaza - Santa Fe, New Mexico

Transcription

Often called "The Heart of Santa Fe", the Santa Fe Plaza, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, has been a central gathering place for citizens and travelers for centuries. When first built in the early 1600s, the Plaza was part of a fort that included the Palace of the Governors, a prison, chapel, and barracks. Of those, the Palace of the Governors remains a part of the Plaza and is recognized as the oldest continuously occupied building in the United States. The Santa Fe Plaza is also well-known as the ending point of the famed Santa Fe Trail, where merchants and traders would gather in the Plaza to trade goods. The Santa Fe Plaza contains a park-like setting with an American Indian War Memorial as well as a performing arts stage. The Plaza is host to several annual events including the Spanish Market, Santa Fe Indian Market, and Santa Fe Bandstand. When in Santa Fe, be sure to pay a visit to the Santa Fe Plaza.
