Koshksaray (Persian: كشكسرائ)[a] is a city in, and the capital of, Koshksaray District of Marand County, East Azerbaijan province, Iran,[4] and the former administrative center for Koshksaray Rural District.[5] The capital of the rural district was transferred to the village of Zanjireh.[4]

At the 2006 census, its population was 7,439 in 1,858 households, when it was in the Central District.[6] The following census in 2011 counted 7,723 people in 2,244 households.[7] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 12,250 people in 2980 households.[2]

In 2019, Koshksaray Rural District and the city of Koshksaray were separated from the district in the establishment of Koshksaray District, which was divided into two rural districts and the city.[4]
