The Evolution of Human-Specific Genes by Duplication
Transcription
Dr. Wing will lead research on comparative genomics and genome assembly of diverse types of rice including cultivated and wild rice. He will use his rich experience of genomics research to develop tools for analysing 3000 rice genomes, an unprecedented amount of information on a crop species. The newly found diversity will lead to discovery of traits to address production problems associated with global climate change. The knowledge and novel genetic resources produced will accelerate varietal development in thousands of rice breeding programs, delivering free and improved varieties to farmers and consumers at a faster pace throughout the world.
