Gatab (Persian: گتاب)[a] is a city in, and the capital of, Gatab District of Babol County, Mazandaran province, Iran.[4] It also serves as the administrative center for Gatab-e Shomali Rural District.[5]

At the 2006 census, its population was 6,956 in 1,744 households.[6] The following census in 2011 counted 7,242 people in 2,084 households.[7] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 7,374 people in 2,340 households.[2]
