Walapai Indian school at Kingman, Arizona, ca.1900
Photograph of a classroom of students with their teachers inside a Walapai Indian school at Kingman, Arizona, circa 1900. The school (1st-4th grades) is directed by Mr. Murphy (standing in the white suit in back?). Perspective is from the front of the classroom looking towards the back. Writing tablets and a few books sit on each desk. The ceiling is wood on the left and plastered on the right. The floor is made of bare wood planks.
