Description
Rosika Schwimmer (1877-1948). She was the world's first female ambassador (representing Hungary in Switzerland, 1918). Member of the board of the International Woman Suffrage Alliance van 1913-1920. From Dutch IAV-archives, returned from Moskou in 2003. Photo 1890's.
N.B. Per [1], that appears to be her actual signature on the image. This is a partial restoration, down to about the level I felt comfortable, given the weird crop of the original meaning I was never going to be completely happy, given I didn't want to remove her signature, but the way it interacts with the edge is awkward enough that I'd want to show the whole carte-de-visite if it weren't mangled. - Adam Cuerden
