Imperial Japanese Navy warships under Vice Admiral Nobutake Kondo head for Guadalcanal to bombard Henderson Field on November 14, 1942. Photographed from heavy cruiser Atago. Battlecruiser Kirishima (background) is preceded in formation by heavy cruiser Takao (center). Kirishima was sunk in battle by the United States Navy battleship USS Washington hours after this photo was taken.
