A complete poem from Man'yōshū includes (1) its title and name of author, (2) its "Chinese form", (3) Japanese form written in the cursive script and (4) author's explanation written in Middle Chinese.

This text consists of the nearly complete 6th poetry (without its title) and parts of the 7th poetries (with the topic and nearly complete "chineses form") from Man'yōshū.

山越乃 風乎時自見 寐夜不落 家在妹乎 懸而
小竹櫃
やまこ せをとみ ねちす いへ
いもを ひつ
   右檢日本書紀 無幸於讚岐國 亦軍王未詳
   也 但山上憶良大夫類聚歌林日 記曰
   天皇十一年己亥冬十二月 己巳朝()壬午 幸于
   伊与溫湯宮 云〻
   一書 是時宮前在二樹木 此之二樹 斑鳩比来()
