Summary

Media data and Non-free use rationale
Description Two micrographs of the embryonic day 18 mouse cortex. To the left, apoptotic cells are labeled with a technique similar to TUNEL staining called ISEL. To the right, all cells are revealed with fluorescent labeling of nuclei. Note the prominent ISEL labeling in the ventricular zone where proliferation occurs (cp = cortical plate, iz = intermediate zone, vz = ventricular zone).

This figure is a great way to introduce the topic of programmed cell death in the developing nervous system since it is depicting just that. This topic might be somewhat difficult thus this image might help to clarify anything.
Minimal use (WP:NFCC#3) There are only three pictures on the page of programmed cell death which has already 9 different topics. If anything more pictures might help clear up additional confusion. This image also does a good job at clarifying a difficult subject.
