I use WIKI 2 every day and almost forgot how the original Wikipedia looks like.

Summary

Media data and Non-free use rationale
Description Thumbnail of the comic that, referencing news referencing Wikipedia referencing neologisms, gave rise to the term.

Date of publication 2011
Use in article (WP:NFCC#7) Circular reporting
Purpose of use in article (WP:NFCC#8) To support encyclopedic discussion of this work in this article. The illustration is specifically needed to support the following point(s):

The entire discussion of citogenesis on Wikipedia, and the use of that term, originated with this comic and refers to it. The image demonstrates the nuance of WP-specific citogenesis, involving more- and less-careful writers, in a way not captured by more generic concepts. The article is about the concept and not this image, but the associated internal page Wikipedia:List_of_citogenesis_incidents which supplies the section of instances on Wikipedia would not exist without the comic, so it is a central point of reference in that section and not incidental or replaceable.

Not replaceable with
free media because
(WP:NFCC#1)
The more generic image currently on the page does not capture the spirit of citogenesis which led to the popularity and widespread use of the coinage. Duplicating the more complex drawing from the comic does not seem like a better alternative.
Minimal use (WP:NFCC#3) This is a thumbnail, suitable for reading the original but not large enough to make a high-resolution zentai.
Respect for
commercial opportunities
(WP:NFCC#2)
The original is not directly sold, and inclusion here is not likely to have any negative impact on associated commercialization (possibly the opposite).
Other information Adding this image to the Wiki page could lead to future metacitogenesis, but the chance of this leading to a runaway self-citation cascade that destroys the wiki is within acceptable margins. Currently under discussion on the article talk page.
