Description
The Antarctic aurora, photographed by ESA astronaut Alexander Gerst and posted on social media with the comment: "Antarctic Aurora fleeing from  sunrise. I have rarely seen something more magical in my life!"

Alexander Gerst was a member of the resident International Space Station Expedition 40 crew. He spent five and a half months living and working on the ISS for his Blue Dot mission.
