Hey guys welcome back to Gun Runnerz. In today’s video we are going to be testing the Armament Systems and Procedure’s Police Baton. This baton is manufactured by Armament Systems and Procedure. A,S,P, or ASP for short. It is a 20 inch long baton that collapses down into an 8 inch package. One of the features of this baton is that it is deployed with the flick of a wrist, and it has a hardened steel ball at the end which allows for maximum transfer of kinetic energy into your target. Today we are going to be testing this again FBI grade ballistic gelatin and a 1/16th inch steel plate to test the penetration power that this baton has. Okay to put into perspective how much damage one of these ASPs are doing to your body, I’m going to put a 1/16th inch thick steel plate in front and let you guys watch as I have a couple of whacks at it. We started off with the 1/16th inch steel plate, and check this out. We hit it three times, and there are three massive dings in this steel. If these were your arms, or your ribs, or your knee caps, you wouldn’t be walking home. Let’s go straight to the ballistic gel now. We are going to start with a few frontal strikes and then we’ll come in from the top and finish it off. Hopefully I can do this without hitting the table. Alright now a few from the top. To follow up on our video here’s the ballistic gelatin. There’s not a whole lot of visible damage, but this steel plate really tells the story. You can see the three huge indentations. ASP manufactures telescopic batons. An assessment by law enforcement officers found them preferred to the usual straight baton for their portability, convenience, effectiveness, usability, and psychological impact.[13]

Since the early 1990s, ASP batons have been adopted by law enforcement agencies in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand and Australia. Expandable batons in general are sometimes referred to as "Asps".

The batons come in three sizes: 16 inches (410 mm), 21 inches (530 mm) and 26 inches (660 mm),[14] and the company has adopted a European measurement standard. They are available with several variations, such as color (black being the most common, but some have nickel-plated shafts), grip pattern and material, and metal composition, the most common being 4140 high carbon steel, with an "airweight" line using a light-weight alloy with a combination of steel and aluminum.

ASP batons are friction-lock in design, and are opened by swinging the handle forcibly through the air. To close this type, the baton's tip is driven into a hard surface to break the friction. A version introduced in 2010 but since discontinued is called "LeverLoc", opened the same way was as friction-lock, but closable by twisting the shafts with both hands, and slightly longer when collapsed state due to the mechanism; a LeverLoc designed for plainclothes concealment was also produced. The friction-lock Airweight series (P12 and P16), for plainclothed concealment, was released in 2012.
