Description
English: A small complete flint handaxe of Lower Palaeolithic date (500,000 BC-50,000 BP). The handaxe is irregular in plan. It has a wide rounded butt and the sides taper inwards towards a rounded tip. One face has four major removals with distinct arises and the other face is more detailed in flake removal. There is no cortex and the surfaces are shiny and uniformly orange brown. The implement is in perfect condition and is not 'rolled'. 57.8 x 50.1 x 24.8mm. Weight: 59.91g.
