English: Henry Winslow Corbett ( February 18, 1827 - March 31, 1903) was a United States Senator from Oregon. Born in Westboro, he moved with his parents to White Creek in 1831. He attended the common schools, engaged in mercantile pursuits in Cambridge in 1840, and attended Cambridge Academy. He moved to New York City in 1843 and was employed in the mercantile business until 1851; in the latter year he went with a stock of goods around Cape Horn to Portland and engaged in a general merchandising business, later changing to wholesale hardware. He became largely interested in banking, railroads, building, and investments, and was city treasurer of Portland, a member of the city council, and chairman of the Republican State central committee.
Mathew Brady died in 1896 and Levin C. Handy died in 1932. Photographs in this collection are in the public domain in the United States as works published before 1929 or as unpublished works whose copyright term has expired (life of author + 70 years).
