Botswana has competed in 11 Summer Olympics. Botswana's first Olympic game was at the 1980 Summer Olympics. Botswana has never participated in a Winter Olympics.

Botswana won its inaugural medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics with Nijel Amos getting a silver in the 800m.[1] The men's 4 x 400 relay team won a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics.[2]

Along with many other African nations, Botswana has yet to compete in a Winter Olympics.[3]

1980 Summer Olympics

Botswana's debut was at the 1980 Summer Olympics, in Moscow.[3] They sent seven men and zero women to participate in the 1980 Summer Olympics.[4] They did not win a single medal at the 1980 Summer Olympics.[5] All athletes participated in athletics.[6]
