Packages of Bánh in

Bánh in (lit.'seal cake') is a Vietnamese cake from the Huế area given at Tết, Lunar New Year. The cakes are often stamped with an auspicious Sino-Vietnamese character such as "tho" for long life.[1] The cake is now quite popular overseas as well[citation needed] and is commonly found all year round in Asian grocery shops worldwide, often in smaller rectangular shaped snack packs. The main ingredients are mung bean, rice flour and durian.

For hundreds of years, the village of Kim Long, located in the ward of the same name, has been famous for its cakes, which are molded with the word "tho", or longevity. At present day, around 30 families keep up the ancient cake making tradition.
